ABOUT ME
Long Story Short
As an administrative alchemist, I create, purify and refine processes. Finding the right chemistry is the key to progress! I started in the corporate world where my brain was content constantly identifying technical problems to solve. I have also lead with my heart to develop solutions for non-profit organizations. My goal as an entrepreneur is to bring it all together. Now, I am leaning into the inspiration from passionate visionaries that need administrative solutions.
Early Beginnings
I am a proud native of East Oakland, California. I grew up as the shy, even tempered, middle child of 3. Being a student always came natural to me because I LOVE learning. I excelled in school. Writing and pursuing acting were early dreams of mine. Life had other plans and I ended up in middle Georgia and central Pennsylvania pursuing Math and Science. That was the beginning of many unexpected, extraordinary experiences.
Corporate Career Ladders
STEM Education and Advocacy. Imaging Salt Domes in the deep Gulf of Mexico. Landing horizontal wells in the Permian Basin. As a geologist in the oil & gas industry, it was all about technical skills and project management tools in the Upstream Sector. After a massive layoff, it became clear to me that I valued making a difference in the lives of others more than contributing to a company’s bottom line. I could do it, but no longer wanted to. I was capable but not content.
Non-profit Enthusiasm
After much self-reflection and exploration, I created my personal mission statement: “connecting people to things that matter.” Thoughts about how that could be manifested in a practical sense swirled around. It occurred to me that my instinctive administrative skills could be used to make an impact with organizations that serve Houstonians. Thus, I embarked on my journey as a connector via various service-related positions. I worked and served in the community to support goals for: financial literacy, disaster recovery, seniors, students and faith-based organizations. I found delight in being part of change.
Public Sector Positioning
Transitioning from non-profit to local government in the middle of a global pandemic was not something I planned. However, it turns out nothing is wasted–my analytical background received a warm welcome at the City of Houston as it received historic funding to reach underserved groups disproportionately affected by COVID-19. Relationship building was key to managing budgets along side so many stakeholders including: funders, procurement, contracts, compliance, HR, and management. As the world has shifted post-pandemic, so has my role within Finance. At the Deptartment of Aviation, we support safe and dynamic air services that facilitate a strong level of global connectivity for the diverse and growing population in the greater Houston region.
Entreprenuer-ish
Working across the spectrum from private to the public sector shaped my perspective for resources, needs and connecting them. Building and executing administrative processes to fill in the gaps has been rewarding in every setting. I am excited to embark on this new adventure partnering with creatives and visionaries to design administrative strategies that maximize their inspiration. Hearing leaders cast vision moves me. I am honored to come along the journey and energized to help create the best path to the final destination.
